Careers within ERA

ERA is a publicly listed company that has mined and produced uranium oxide from its Ranger mine in the beautiful and rugged Alligator Rivers area of the Northern Territory since 1980. The open cut Ranger mine is on Aboriginal land, and is surrounded by, but separate from, the spectacular Kakadu National Park. Most employees are accommodated in the attractive township of Jabiru near the Ranger mine, and close to the main sites of the national park. The company’s head office is located in Darwin, 250km to the west, and an easy drive.

ERA has workplaces in Darwin and Jabiru. As at 31 December 2007, 450 people were employed by ERA, the majority of whom work at Ranger Mine.

ERA places a high value on training and professional development of its employees. ERA actively encourages workplace diversity and has been recognised as an employer of choice for women by the Workplace Agency.

ERA is committed to increasing Aboriginal employment. Representation by Aboriginal people in the Ranger mine workforce in 2007, averaged 16 per cent.

As part of the company's induction process for new employees, cultural awareness courses are held to provide information on Aboriginal culture and respect for Aboriginal land and environmental issues.

Career fields within ERA include: the sciences, engineering, operations, administration, trades and traineeships.
