Partnerships
As part of our approach to community engagement, Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) contributes to programmes identified by, and preferably in partnership with, local communities. We believe effective partnerships stem from shared goals, mutual commitment and proven outcomes. We support a range of organisations that share our goal of delivering sustainable outcomes for the communities in which we operate.
Bardayal 'Lofty' Nadjamerrek exhibition
In 2010 ERA and Rio Tinto were proud to be to be the major sponsors of an exhibition of one of the Northern Territory's most distinguished and respected Aboriginal leaders, and one of Australia's most significant artists, Bardayal 'Lofty' Nadjamerrek at the Sydney Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA).
ERA's support enabled the exhibition to extend beyond the MCA to incorporate community events and professional development workshops for Indigenous artists in the Alligator Rivers area of West Arnhem Land.
Education partnership
ERA continues to support and strengthen a partnership with the Northern Territory Department of Education and Training (DET) and the West Arnhem College, to help improve the region's education system. The partnership programme offers all students in Jabiru, Gunbalanya and the surrounding region greater education opportunities and access to important pathways for future career options and training. In 2010 fans saw the high profile Territory Thunder football team and Territory Storm netball team achieve great success, and gain widespread support in the general community. As part of this relationship, Territory Thunder football players held coaching clinics for school students in Jabiru and Gunbalanya.
Indigenous Music Awards
ERA is a major sponsor of the Northern Territory Indigenous Music Awards and is pleased to support an event which helps develop established and emerging artists.
