A year of firsts for 2016 Kakadu Triathlon:

  • record number of competitors since the triathlon started in 2013
  •  first female to win the event - Kylie Scholz, a mother of two, was the fastest overall competitor
  • first year to include an under 14 junior race
  • record funds raised for CareFlight - more than $10,000 and counting
  • the hottest race conditions on record
  • first national TV coverage – Channel 10 quiz show ‘Have You Been Paying Attention’ asked “Kylie Scholz mother of two has recently won what?”

Money raised from the Kakadu Triathlon will go towards CareFlight's emergecy rescue helicopter operations.  It costs $4 million per year to operate the 24 hour, seven days a week helicopter service, of which CareFlight must raise $1.4 million.
