Purpose, Values & Priorities

Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) operated Ranger, Australia’s longest continuous uranium mine, surrounded by, but separate from Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory. In accordance with Government legislation, all mining operations and uranium processing at Ranger ceased on 8 January 2021.

Today, ERA’s strategic priority is the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Ranger Project Area to a standard where it can be reincorporated into the surrounding Kakadu National Park if Traditional Owners and the Commonwealth Government wish.

ERA's purpose is to create a positive legacy and achieve world-class, sustainable rehabilitation of former mine assets.

The principles that guide ERA’s approach are:

  • Safety: people are our priority.
  • Teamwork: we actively engage Traditional Owners, scientific experts, Government leaders, employees and the local community to help care for people and country.
  • Respect: we acknowledge and value culture and diverse perspectives in all we do.
  • Integrity: our long-term legacy and reputation relies on the action we take today.
  • Excellence: the unique cultural and environmental aspects of Ranger set the world leading standards we must achieve.
