The Way We Work (Our Values and Code of Conduct)

The Way We Work outlines how we deliver both our purpose and strategy. It makes clear how we should behave, in accordance with our values of safety, teamwork, respect, integrity and excellence. It also includes our code of conduct.

The Way We Work provides a clear framework for how we should conduct our business, no matter where we work or where we are from. Importantly, it provides clear boundaries that we should hold ourselves and each other accountable for, to help make the right choices. It applies to each employee as well as to our consultants, agents, contractors and suppliers. We also want these principles to be respected by our joint venture partners and non-controlled companies.

Pre-Employment Programme

ERA supports school leavers and other local people to learn skills and gain accreditation to enable them to enter the workforce or find new local employment via its Pre-Employment Programme.

The programme is supported by a range of stakeholders including ERA, Warnbi Aboriginal Organisation, Batchelor Institute, Westpac, Jabiru Medical Centre and the Northern Territory Department of Business.

Participants take place in a five week course to achieve accreditation in Certificate II – Resource Infrastructure Work Preparation, which can include High Risk Work training such as a Forklift licence.


ERA is committed to its apprenticeship programme and continues to provide opportunities for job seekers to qualify in various trades. Apprentices are engaged for four years and achieve a Certificate III in mining and industry related fields.

In addition, ERA also engages school-based apprentices who continue their year 11 and year 12 schooling while maintaining part-time work at ERA. A school-based apprenticeship can lead to further employment or a full-time apprenticeship, either with ERA or with another employer.
