Since mining of Pit 3 ended in November 2012, Ranger has been processing ore from stockpiles.
The ore comes from both Pit 1 which was depleted in 1994 and Pit 3.
The process for extracting uranium ore from the mine to producing drums of uranium oxide involves a number of complex operations, including extraction, sorting, crushing, and production. Click here to download the uranium processing at Ranger information sheet.
In 2018, ERA produced 1,999 tonnes of uranium oxide from stockpiled ore.
ERA is forecast to produce between 1,400 and 1,800 tonnes of U3O8 in 2019.
ERA uses sulphuric leaching to extract uranium after the ore is put through a three stage crushing and grinding circuit.
