Since mining of Pit 3 ended in November 2012, Ranger has been processing ore from stockpiles.

The ore comes from both Pit 1 which was depleted in 1994 and Pit 3.

The process for extracting uranium ore from the mine to producing drums of uranium oxide involves a number of complex operations, including extraction, sorting, crushing, and production. Click here to download the uranium processing at Ranger information sheet.

In 2020, ERA produced 1,574 tonnes of uranium oxide from stockpiled ore.

ERA produced in excess of 132,000 tonnes of U3O8 in the 40 years of production.

ERA uses sulphuric leaching to extract uranium after the ore is put through a three stage crushing and grinding circuit.
