ERA world-class approach attracts African delegation visit

19 Sept 2018

Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) is committed to delivering excellence in production and rehabilitation at Ranger Mine.

Through innovation and investment ERA is transforming global industry standards for progressive rehabilitation and whole-of-life mine management.

Recently ERA welcomed the opportunity to share this expertise during an international delegation visit by the Ministry of Mines of Niger in West Africa and the Sustainable Minerals Institute.

With two Niger uranium mines about to progress to closure shortly, the delegation of scientists and government officials had come to Ranger to learn about mine closure best practice, site rehabilitation processes, post-closure monitoring and communication, socio-economic closure impacts, community engagement and uranium-related health and safety protocols.

A representative from the Sustainable Minerals Institute said they had received a very useful visit of both the mine and Jabiluka and thanked staff for the detailed and in-depth explanation of the work underway and of the background history of the mines.
